SECRETS OF THE APPLE TREE TAVERN
Where Did Your Story Come From?
Authors are asked this question, but shy away from answering until they are in the company of fellow writers who will understand.
Growing up in the older version of Catholicism, we were taught about angels and devils; mystics and miracles. Our teachers wore robes often with hoods and taught us about an ancient culture.
Although Druids had never been discussed, I learned about them in literature classes. More specifically from the writings of the Roman Military General, Julius Caesar. It was in his journals where the description of Druid Priests running in front of the Celtic troops to bless them as they marched into battle. Caesar's Military told how corpses killed the previous day on the battlefield, were alive again the next day and fought even harder...all of this dark magic had been attributable to the powers of the Druid Priests.
Living in England and visiting Ireland, I searched their libraries to find out more about the Druids. The few historical records described them as staunch believers in justice, feeling it was their duty to carry it out in this life as they believed in a form of reincarnation. There were no written records and I was told that The Laws of the Ancient Order were only a whisper; one man to another, lips to ears.
For the last thirty years, I have written one story or another that happened to include Druids in modern day USA. I was always asked, "How did the Druids get here?"
SECRETS OF THE APPLE TREE TAVERN tells that story.
