Gulf Coast Writers Association General Meeting of June 30, 2005
The meeting was called to order by President Philip Levin at 7:00 PM at the Coffee House. Officers in attendance included President Philip Levin, Treasurer Mary Ramano, At-large members Al Molnar and Bob Fry, Committee Chairperson Elaine Stevens, and Magnolia Quarterly editor Victoria Olsen. About forty members and guests attended.
The GCWA New By-laws were approved as submitted.
Kris Taylor and Melody Worsham volunteered to serve as Publicists as Nancy Beeler has requested to take time off from that position for awhile. Al Molnar volunteered to coordinate the Calendar fund-raiser committee, working with Elaine Stevens. We’re still seeking volunteers for the “Let’s Write Committee.”
Our feature guest speaker, Milena Rimassa-Merrill, president of ISIS Films, spoke about opportunities for film script writing and encouraged interested writers to submit to her company. Contact information milena@isis.com.
Open mike provided five members opportunities to read and have their work critiqued.
Announcements included the Indiana Jones, Raiders of the Lost Ark Adaptation fund-raiser to be shown at the Silver Screen on July 7th.
Next meeting with by July 28th, 7 PM at the Coffee House. This will be our yearly Summer Open Mike Night. Members are encouraged to bring something to read out loud.
